Summer Game Fest 2023 will show live in theaters for free in select cities

Summer Game Fest has become the unofficial replacement for E3 since it was canceled (perhaps for good) back in March. Video game journalist and host Geoff Keighley has been hyping up this year’s event, which will air live on June 8, just a couple days ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase/Starfield Direct on June 11.

Summer Game Fest 2023 has partnered with over 40 entities, among them some of the biggest names in the video game and entertainment industries including Xbox, Steam, Activision, Netflix, PlayStation, Disney and many more. And Keighley has hinted at 3-4 that he says will be “pretty big for this audience.”

Expected appearances during the 2-hour event include the new Mortal KomabatAlan Wake 2, Tekken 8, Square Enix’ new Splatoon-inspired IP Foamstars and many more. Add to that the fact that following the Summer Game Showcase there will be the Day of the Devs Digital Showcase starting at 5pm Eastern and the Devolver Digital Showcase at 6pm.

And gamers who live in select cities will have the chance to watch the live showcase in a theater…for free! This thanks to a partnership between Summer Game Fest and Cinemark. See the list of participating theaters below.
