Just a month after Steam held its annual Autumn sale, we’ve just learned that Valve’s digital distribution platform will kick off its Winter Sale on Thursday, December 22. The news was announced today by PayPal UK, which teased the upcoming sale on Twitter a couple of hours ago (via Polygon).

Valve has yet to reveal all the PC games that will be discounted during its Steam sale, but the company also announced yesterday  that gamers will be invited every day from December 22nd to December 30th to vote for the Steam Awards. On December 22, nominees for “The Villain Most in Need of a Hug Award” include Borderlands, Portal 2 and more and winners for each of the 12 awards will be announced on New Year’s Eve.

As a reminder, Microsoft has also announced yesterday that it will kick off its biggest Xbox sale ever this Thursday, and you can look forward to take advantage of interesting discounts on select games, movies, TV shows, music and apps during the 19-days sale.
