Start menu in Windows 8 to return via third-party app
The lack of a Start menu in the new Windows 8 operating system has many users frustrated and angry. Now, Stardock has plans for an app that emulates the Start menu for those who wish to have it again in Windows 8.
The guys over at Stardock (via Neowin) have announced plans to release a new Windows 8 app that emulates the Start Menu. “The Windows 8 Consumer Preview is available and has taken the Windows interface to a whole new level. Unfortunately, the preview did not come with a desktop feature that the world makes use of billions times a day, the “Start” menu. Luckily, we have a solution!” Stardock states.
The product is called “Start8” and is expected to be released to the masses for free later this week. Start8 features a “Start” menu on the Windows 8 taskbar which enables quick access and searching of installed apps, easy access to the run command, and adds the shutdown button to the menu.Further reading: Microsoft, Windows 8
