Star Wars characters in Disney Magic Kingdoms video game on Windows 10

The Disney Magic Kingdoms video game received a rather large update this week for Windows 10, iOS, and Android devices. The update unlocked a new Thrill Zone in the main park area and rebalanced some tokens but its main purpose was to add loads of new Star Wars content in preparation of its next major event which is set to begin just over a day from now.

While previous updates have added characters and other content from Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker and The Mandalorian, this one is inspired by the original Star Wars film, Episode IV: A New Hope. Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, Darth Vader, and a Tie Fighter Pilot are now all in the game and will be unlockable during the A New Hope event between April 22nd and May 13th.

Several attractions, concessions, and decorations inspired by locations in the classic Sci-Fi film will also be unlockable during this event window.

Here’s the official list of new content:

CHARACTERS

  • Luke Skywalker
  • Leia Organa
  • Han Solo
  • Chewbacca (Premium)
  • Tie Fighter Pilot (Premium)
  • Darth Vader

COSTUMES

  • Luke X-Wing Suit

ATTRACTIONS

  • Millennium Falcon (Premium)
  • Yavin 4 Base
  • Luke’s Home
  • Garbage Compactor
  • Marauder

CONCESSIONS

  • Rebel Helmet Stand
  • Death Star Balloon Stand

DECORATIONS

  • Cantina Table Set

EXPANSIONS

  • One new plot of Land (Star Wars Zone)

Note that the new plot of land is unlockable right now and will remain available permanently in the future after the event is finished.

Disney Magic Kingdoms is a free-to-play video game that tasks players with freeing plots of land from an evil curse and building their own Disney theme park. A large number of characters from Disney properties are unlockable for free while some require gems, the game’s in-game currency, to unlock.

Others, such as all of the Star Wars characters added so far with the exception of C3P0 and R2D2, are made available for limited periods of time during free themed events. Once the events are over, these event characters are added to chests as chance unlocks. Chests are items that can be purchased by players with real-world money. Opening them randomly unlocks characters, attractions, and items.

Star Wars video game news has been pretty quiet recently though some announcements are expected in the coming weeks in the lead-up to May the 4th, a day celebrated by Star Wars fans (and corporations) due to it sounding like “May The Force (be with you.)” Possible new game announcements could include a follow-up to Star Wars Battlefront II in the form of Battlefront III or a spin-off and a new release date for LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga.
