Standalone $149.99 Kinect sensor for Xbox One now available in the US, UK retailers — later this week

Standalone 49.99 Kinect sensor for Xbox One now available in the US, UK retailers to get the stock ready later this week

Back in August, Microsoft announced that consumers would be able to purchase a standalone Kinect sensor for $149.99 starting in October. As promised, the $149.99 Kinect sensors are now available for purchase on Amazon US stores, while the UK branch will have the stock ready later this week. To lure more users, the company is giving away Dance Central Spotlight (available as a digital download with 10 tracks) along with every purchase.

In June of earlier this year, Microsoft started offering a Kinect-free Xbox One console for $399, down from $499 for Xbox One with Kinect. Later, it announced that it would be selling Kinect sensors separately for $149.99. For those of you who are not familiar with Kinect, it’s a motion detection system that allows users to play games that require physical movement or voice recognition. In addition, it also enhances the overall viewing experience and allows you to make HD Skype calls directly from the Xbox One. You might also want to check Microsoft’s RoomAlive concept, which gives you an idea of what the future of gaming could look like.

The Kinect sensor is now available for purchase on Amazon US and Microsoft US stores, while the UK retailers will start selling it on October 17th. Check out the via links for more information on availability and local offers.
