Physical copies of Spyro the Dragon: Reignited Trilogy on Xbox One will only contain the first game. This news is according to a recent report by comicbook.com, which details that Spyro the Dragon 2 and 3 will be available as Xbox One digital codes.
Upon purchasing the physical disc, you will be required to download Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon in order to play the first Spyro game on the disc. Activision released an official comment on the download requirement:
“The global launch date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy is Sept. 21; and we’re excited for fans to play all three reignited games on that day. As with most games today, downloading an update after purchase is quite common. The language on packaging and on the web is to let players know the requirements for Spyro Reignited Trilogy.”
On Twitter, Nibellion tweeted out a picture on the game website that indicates that “Games 2 and 3 require download via Internet.” Furthermore, the box art on the physical disc indicates that the game “requires content download” in order to play.

Nibellion runs through “several possible explanantions for not putting all three games on the physical disc:
– They did this on purpose (lol no)
– The file sizes of the games are too big (possible)
– Only game 1 was ready to get printed on disc and they couldn’t push the date any further without causing problems (probably this)
