If you’re an IT Pro, you may probably be familiar with Spiceworks, a popular community of IT professionals that use the site to share best practices, get feedback from peers and talk about the next IT trends. This week, the company shared some hard data about what the Spiceworks Community discussed in 2016, and it seems that a lot of users have been talking about Microsoft products over the past 12 months.
Indeed, Spiceworks monitored brand mentions on the site last year and noted that both Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 helped Microsoft become the most talked about vendor. The company explained:
This year, more than last, Microsoft was the talk of the town, gaining 31.9% of all vendor brand mentions (up from 23% last year). It’s no wonder, because Windows 10 is still relatively new and the free upgrade offer from Windows 7 and 8 was valid through July 2016. Additionally, Microsoft Windows Server 2016 launched in September, driving the mentions of the company even higher.
In its latest State of IT report, Spiceworks also broke mentions down by IT categories and Microsoft Azure was the clear winner in the cloud computing one, claiming 70% of top vendor brand mentions. “Our IT cloud services report showed Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services lead in adoption, and IT pros are discussing both brands the majority of the time in the cloud category,” noted the company.
Of course, that doesn’t necessarily means that IT Pros are overwhelmingly supporting Microsoft products, but it still shows that the Redmond giant doesn’t really have to worry about brand awareness.
