Working out is more productive, motivational and just plain more fun with friends. Microsoft knows this, and the company is collaborating with the place where all your friends are – Facebook – on some cool new social features for the Microsoft Band, called Social Challenges and Leaderboards, announces the Windows blog.
The new features work through the Microsoft Health mobile app, which can be connected with your Facebook account to see other connected friends. You can now create fitness challenges to compete together with friends, ranging from calories burned, to steps walked or longest run. Friends can then check each other’s activities on the Leaderboards for some friendly competitive spirits and motivational boost. The features work either with the Microsoft Band or through the phone’s sensors, which you can enable in the settings.
Social Challenges and Leaderboards are great additions to existing social features, letting you invite friends to join in on the healthy habits, and also sharing stats on social media for bragging rights. Expect to see Social Challenges and Leaderboards roll out over the next week.
