Skype on iOS app updated with bug fixes and improvements, adds “Invite friends to Skype” feature

Laurent Giret

Skype on iOS has been updated today to version 6.17.1, and this minor update brings a new feature to help you easily invite your friends to use the app along with the usual bug fixes and improvements. You can see the full changelog below:

  • Add new friends by opening your Contacts, tapping ‘Invite friends to Skype’ and selecting who you want to join.
  • Improvements to voice and video call quality.
  • Fixed bug that prevented some users to automatically sign in.

This last update comes two weeks after the Skype team added a video message saving feature as well hardware support improvements to its messaging app on iOS devices. The new ‘Invite friends to Skype’ feature is quite interesting as Skype competitors such as Whatsapp or Facebook Messenger currently provide a more straightforward way to build your contact list by relying on phone numbers.
