Split View

For those of you who have finally installed the Windows 10 October update, it is now possible to use the new split view feature for Skype. As bringing back split view was one of the most requested features, this will be a welcome return for many.

How to enable and disable split view

To enable and disable split view, you need to select it in the ellipsis menu (the three dots on the right where your name is). Once you enable it, the big window on the right will disappear, leaving only the smaller, narrower window where all your contacts are.

To be honest, I wasn’t really overly excited about this. Maybe because I am not a big Skype user, so I don’t remember the time when Skype had the split view.

However, after playing with it a bit, I can certainly see why people like it. I particularly like that you can have as many windows as you like open. I’m not really sure why I like it, but I do.

Mind you, if you use Skype a lot, I’m assuming that if you have split view enabled, every time someone new calls, a completely new window will open up. I can imagine that might become quite annoying.

OneDrive will also be coming to Skype

On a related note, Skype is also testing a new feature which will allow sharing of OneDrive. At the moment, only Insiders have access, but this will certainly be another useful feature to have.

So, some good news for Skype split view fans, and I only mentioned Windows 10 October update once. Still, the day is young.

What do you think? If you’re a Skype user and are using the new split view, tell us what you think. What else would you like Skype to bring back? Answers in the comments below, please.
