After introducing the background blur feature for Skype for desktop last year, Microsoft is bringing the same AI-powered feature to Skype for iPhone and iPad. The latest Skype version 8.62 is now live for everyone to download, which will let you blur your background during video meetings when using Skype on the iPhone and iPad.
In addition to the background blur option, the recent update also brings some stability improvements and bug fixes, and you can read the full release notes below:
- You can now blur your camera background on Skype for iPhone
- Bug fixes and stability improvements
If you are running the latest version of Skype today, you can blur your background during a video call by tapping the (…) More menu, and then turning on the Blur my background option.
The ability to blur their background was one of the most requested features from both iPhone and iPad users. That is something Skype for desktop users have been enjoying for some time, and it should be a timely addition after Skype usage saw a significant spike over the past couple of months. However, it seems like Skype users on Android will have to wait a couple more weeks to see this option.
