Microsoft has rolled out an update to its Skype for Windows 8 app, adding HD video support to the program. On top of this, the video messaging feature in Skype for Windows 8 remains in “preview” form as Microsoft looks to improve the feature.
Skype for Windows 8 now features HD video support depending on the sender’s camera and the network bandwidth. “We’ve added support for HD video in select scenarios. Depending on the sender’s camera, available network bandwidth and the receiver’s setup on x86 devices, callers may be able to send 720p video and receive 1080p video, thereby improving the overall quality and performance of the video call,” Microsoft explained.
The video messaging feature remains in preview form as Microsoft looks to continue improving the feature. Microsoft rolled out a new feature for video messaging, allowing for better stability of video messaging and making video messaging easier to find with better notifications.
