In a recent medical journal study, people who sit down for most of their day, especially when computing, are 54% more likely to die of a heart attack. That’s bad news for coders, gamers, etc. who spend long hours on their desks!
As ZDNet reports, Medical Billing and Coding put out some stats and graphics that show us just how bad it is to sit down on a chair for a long period of time. Apparently, “Sitting makes us fat” and makes us 54% more likely to die of a heart attack.
There are even suggestions to purchase and use a Stand-up Desk, but wouldn’t we begin to see foot problems from prolonged standing? Imagine coding your own application or website while standing for a few hours straight. Yeah, not gonna happen.
