What happens when you cannot make it to your wedding due to an illness? Don’t worry, you can always use Skype! Thats what a couple did recently when the groom had a very bad lung infection.
As Reuters reports, the couple, Samuel Kim and Helen Oh, were set to get married over the weekend in the sunny California city of Fullerton. They had friends and family members traveling from as far away as their native Korea and from New York.
Unfortunately, the groom came down with an illness a few days prior. When the groom began spitting up blood, he was too nervous to break it to his bride. After all, who wouldn’t be nervous?
When he finally did tell his bride later in the week, the couple improvised a solution by holding the wedding via the Web video conferencing system Skype.
“Guests said it was inspirational, they really admired my fiance for being able to stand at the altar in the manner that she did, alone and not crying the whole time,” said the groom from his hospital bed.
The wedding had five live cameramen at the church capturing the ceremony and streaming it for guests watching on large screens. The groom was watching the live stream on a laptop while recovering in the hospital. The groom had an audio crew that cued him before his face was to appear on the screen.
The wedding went on without a problem and the bride credits Web technology for making her dreams come true.
Interesting way to get married. Just goes to show you that technology can be used for anything!Further reading: Off Topic, Skype
