Scalebound’s director Hideki Kamiya is impressed with Microsoft

Among the Xbox exclusives hyped for a near future release on Microsoft’s gaming platforms, Scalebound stands out for its interesting double-team of protagonists, it’s expansive world and epic battles, and the fact that it’s made by over-the-top action game veteran Platinum Games, at the helm of which is legendary figure Hideki Kamiya, maker of greats like Devil May Cry and Okami. GamesBeat was able to catch up to the man at E3, and apparently he had some very good things to say about his current partners from Redmond, reports VentureBeat.

Specifically, what impressed Kamiya the most about Microsoft compare to Platinum Games’ other partners is, somewhat unsurprisingly, the size of the company. It’s no secret that Microsoft is a behemoth not just in gaming, but in many different parts of technology, with an expansive portfolio of computing-enhancing products, and enormous resources both financial and technological. It should be impressive, then, when the company put this power behind a project, like in the case of Scalebound, which is “a big bet” for Microsoft, according to Kamiya.

What’s interesting in Kamiya’s remarks is how he talks about Microsoft as a whole and not just the Xbox division, that Redmond is using every on of its resource in tandem to “make a big vision come to life” with Scalebound. This sounds very much in tune with part of the culture shift spearheaded by current CEO Satya Nadella, which, along with the unification of the company’s software chops, also brings the company’s divisions closer together.

Sure enough, according to Kamiya, Platinum Games team have been able to “learn a lot from people they wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to and grow in interesting ways.” Microsoft is a humongous company, and we can’t help but be excited to see what the company will be able to achieve when it focuses resources into a project and work with talented partners like Platinum Games. Kamiya promises us “a big game”, and you will get to see how big in 2017, when Scalebound comes out.
