Recently, we learned that Microsoft was in talks with HTC to dual-boot Windows Phone and Android. But it looks like it wasn’t only HTC. According to a new report, Microsoft is also asking Samsung and Huawei to dual-boot Windows Phone and Android.
With this deal, Microsoft is offering Windows Phone for smartphones and Windows RT for tablets, and surprisingly, for free plus compensation for necessary adaption costs. Samsung is rumored to be dual-booting Windows RT and Android OS on a tablet, which is rumored to be announced in 2014. For this dual-boot device, the user can only run one OS at a time because memory is not shared between the operating systems.
About Samsung dual-booting Windows Phone on its phones, it might turn out to be a go. Samsung is currently discussing this option, and if it’s a yes, then there won’t be many technical problems to fix. Therefore, it wouldn’t take a lot of time for production.
The source of this information comes from Eldar Murtazin, who is also the one who has said that Microsoft is working on merging Windows RT and Windows Phone.
We will just have to wait and see if this idea comes to fruition. Would you purchase a dual-booting Windows Phone and Android smartphone?Further reading: Microsoft, Samsung, Windows Phone
