Among the unrest of the SAG-AFTRA voice actor strikes was revealed a list of companies that have yet to comply with their union’s demands. Not only was the popular Telltale Games on this list, but the union hit the company right where it hurts by revealing the games that hey were contracted to act for. One of these includes Telltale Games’ Guardians of the Galaxy slotted for a 2017 release.
Telltale Games is known for bringing popular franchises to episodic, fast-paced, storytelling adventures. The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, Minecraft: Story Mode, and The Wolf Among Us have all been successful across PC, mobile, and console platforms.
As the news from OnlySP reports, we already knew that Telltale’s next game would be a Marvel related story. We even knew that it would be released next year. But like many games that were revealed with the SAG-AFTRA strike, the Guardians of the Galaxy title was announced before its time. While Telltale Games is on the list of unnegotiated contracts, this title popped up on the ‘not struck’ list and will continue to move forward unhindered.
Furthermore, some sort of arrangement has been reached to at least censor the title even if it is just a bit too late. The new PDF from SAG-AFTRA has been replaced with a more ambiguous “Untitled Marvel Game a/k/a Blue Harvest” leaving some to wonder if the screenshots of the list were even accurate. However, through some clever sleuthing by Gamer Revolution, the web cache clearly shows Guardians of the Galaxy – The Video Game a.k.a Blue Harvest.
Without any official confirmation from either the union or Telltale, we’re obligated to classify this as a very likely rumor. For now, it’s time to brush up on the Marvel Universe and hope that Telltale Games and the SAG-AFTRA union can come to peace for any future titles.
