Microsoft’s upcoming update to Windows Phone 8, known as Windows Phone 8.1, is now rumored to arrive in the second quarter of next year, according to one Windows Phone tipster. Apparently, Windows Phone 8.1 will arrive for all current Windows Phone 8 handsets.

Although details are scarce at this time, the current rumor claims we will see the next big update to Windows Phone 8 sometime in the second quarter of 2014. Windows Phone 8.1 is set to be a revolutionary update, just like Windows 8.1 was for Windows 8. Details of what Windows Phone 8.1 will feature is still unknown, but rumors have suggested that we will see a Notification Center, app-list sorting, a voice assistant code-named “Cortana” and many other new features.

The same tipster revealed a Windows Phone 8.1 sighting on the FB Pages Manager app, which tells us that Microsoft and Nokia are both testing the operating system update. More on this as it develops.
