From the rumor mill: Microsoft working on a Google Glass competitor for release in 2014

Google Glass

Google Glass, an attempt by Google to create wearable computing that pretty much consists of a pair of thin glasses that contain an integrated heads-up display and hidden battery. Some people are arguing that this is the future while some argue that this is ridiculous. Now, it looks like Microsoft may jump on board its own version of Glass!

According to a new report, Microsoft may be planning on bringing its own version of Google Glass to market by next year in an attempt to be Google’s direct competitor when it comes to this wearable computing device. If true, who knows exactly what type of device Microsoft will create or if the company creates their own unique spin on Google Glass.

“It appears to us that Google has made significant breakthroughs around software applications as it relates to this new product,” analyst Brian White stated. “As such, we believe this initiative will kick off a major push into the field of wearable electronics and therefore will be closely scrutinized.”

Google Glass has yet to be released and isn’t expected until late this year. Microsoft’s rumored competitor to the Glass is rumored for the first half of next year. Should Microsoft create a competitor for Google Glass? Perhaps powered by Windows!
