A rumor has stated that Apple may release the new iPad 3 on the anniversary of Steve Jobs’ birthday in February. Although this rumor has yet to be confirmed by Apple, it ties in perfectly with a previous rumor of an early 2012 release date.
A news network in China, Focus Taiwan, has released information about the possible release date of the iPad 3. Wait…the iPad 3 already? Apple is apparently pushing for a release date on “the anniversary of the birth of Apple’s late co-founder Steve Jobs.” The information comes from a Taiwanese supply chain that manufactures parts for Apple’s iPad, and also stated that the manufacturers “need to keep working during the Lunar New Year holiday to meet the delivery deadline.” Apple hasn’t made a statement about the rumors yet. Steve Jobs died in October after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
In August it was speculated that the new iPad would be released in early 2012, so it seems to be “right on track” with what we have been hearing for the past few months. Apple has been on an “accelerated release cycle” which means they try to sell and release as many iPad 2’s as they can because they are trying to stay on top of the tablet market. The new iPad 3 supposedly will have a 9.7 inch screen, a 2048×1536, and will will be in HD.Further reading: Apple, iOS
