RIM announces new music service

Posted in:

RIM recently announced that they will be bringing a brand new music service to BlackBerry Messenger. The new service not only shares your favourite music, but add’s a whole new social networking experience to your phone.

The service will cost $4.00 per month, you can download up to 50 songs during that period. Also, if you have a contact on the same service, you can stream the music you purchased to their phone as well.

The basic idea of this service is to stream music to your BBM contacts which is a good idea unless you don’t have any contacts with the same service.

With Zune Pass, Spotify and all the other companies, this may be a tough sell. BBM is currently the only major feature that is keeping non-corporate users on the phone, they expect this new service will keep those users from drifting away to another type of phone.
