A new report is indicating that during a Windows Phone 8 developer event in Singapore, the head of Nokia Asia Pacific Developer Relations told the audiance that Windows Phone 7.8 had been Released to Manufacturing (RTM) this week and that IE10 will not make an appearance in this update. Microsoft has yet to official reveal when Windows Phone 7.8 will be rolled out but if this rumor is true, then we could see it rolled out to eligible smartphones within the next couple of weeks.

Recently, we learned that the Windows Phone 7.8 update was set to launch just after the release of Windows Phone 8 devices. Aside from a new Start Screen, apparently Windows Phone 7.8 will not come with a new feature that will be in the Windows Phone 8 operating system. Internet Explorer 10 will not be in the Windows Phone 7.8 update due to the browser utilizing hardware acceleration and current smartphone hardware is unable to support that feature. So those who are currently on Windows Phone 7.5 and are expecting the Windows Phone 7.8 update will get Internet Explorer 9 instead. More on this rumor as it develops.
