A report surfaced back in May of this year and suggested that the upgrade cost for Windows 8 Pro would be $14.99 for those who purchase a Windows 7 PC between June 2nd and January 31st of 2013. Now, Microsoft offers official details on this cool offer.

“Today, registration is officially open for the Windows Upgrade Offer we announced in May. If you purchase or have purchased an eligible Windows 7 PC anytime between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013 you will be able to purchase an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for only $14.99 (U.S.) which will be redeemable when Windows 8 is generally available on October 26th,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post. Once you buy your PC, head over to the Windows 8 Upgrade Offer website and redeem your discount. Using the purchase screen in the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant, users will see the $39.99 upgrade price. However, once you enter the promo code received from the Upgrade Offer website, the price drops to $14.99! This deal is available in 140 countries worldwide, and comes with 37 supported languages and 23 supported currencies.
