Popular password manager 1Password has just released a new version of its Windows app that has been rewritten from scratch (via The Verge). Indeed, the new version 7.0 is ” the fastest, most secure, and most versatile version” of 1Password for Windows according to the developers, and it also introduces Windows Hello support for unlocking 1Password with your face or fingerprint.

Some of the other new elements introduced to the Windows app in this latest release include a redesigned sidebar and a pop-out window for an easy look at saved passwords. There are also new lock screen animations, new fonts and icons, support for assistive technologies and new languages and regions. Other notable features are below, with the full changelog available here.

  • Search power-ups — use `file:`, `tag:`, or `title:` in the search box to find things faster and easier than ever before.
  • Nested tags — add tags within tags (using `/`) and 1Password will break them down into groups for better organization.
  • 2FA integration — 1Password can now scan your screen for a one-time password QR code to save it to your Login items.
  • Super-speedy — the main app and mini now work as one, and with an all new local database, 1Password 7 is unbelievably fast.

You can try out 1Password for free for 30 days and then subscribe for $2.99 a month, or $4.99 a month for a family plan. There are also separate pricing for teams, business, and enterprises. Learn more and download by checking out the 1Password website here.
