Rainbow Six: Siege open beta delayed, potential fix coming soon

If you’re like a lot of people in the gaming community, then you’ve probably been anticipating Rainbow Six: Siege. The game, which went into Closed Beta not too long ago, boasts intense 4v4 action and is one of few games in recent history that truly promote tactical play and teamwork. Up until now, we were under the impression that this breath of fresh air in gaming was going to be hitting open beta today – unfortunately, we were wrong.
[pullquote align=”full” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]”We’re currently seeing issues with matchmaking times and disconnection on all platforms. As such we’re postponing the Open Beta until a later time and keeping the game under Closed Beta status. We apologize for the delay and can assure you this is our top priority. We will keep everyone updated regularly as we continue to deploy improvements.”[/pullquote]
In a forum post today from Jax, Ubisoft Community Manager, the open beta for Rainbow Six: Siege needs to be delayed for an amount of time that is yet to be determined. This comes from multiple reports in the closed beta that the servers are plagued with severe issues in matchmaking, and giving an altogether unsatisfactory experience to players. The decision is understandable, considering open beta would have been many players’ first contact with Rainbow Six: Siege and first impressions are extremely valuable.
The forum post says that they will be pushing an attempted fix out at around 6 pm EST, and after that we will be given further updates as to the status of open beta. Thankfully, they have confirmed that this issue should have no effect on the final launch of the game, and that date will not be pushed back. Let’s hope that their fix can roll out properly, and the open beta will still launch soon.
