PUBG is adding an Event Mode similar to Fortnite's, will begin with 8-player squads

PlayerUnknown's Battleground (PUBG) is adding an Event Mode similar to the Blitz Mode found in Fortnite Battle Royale. PUBG's new Event Mode will add 8-player squads to the game in the hopes to bring more players to PUBG. As noted in a report by Polygon, the "future of Event Mode holds some exciting things!"

"PUBG’s Event Mode will feature rotating custom games that differ from PUBG’s standard Solo, Duo and Squad modes. The first event will feature eight-person squads with double the assault rifle spawns of a normal game. PUBG Corp. said the test will be open to all players and will happen exclusively in third-person perspective on PUBG’s Erangel map."

In December 2017, Fortnite rolled out special timed events, including Blitz Mode. At the time, PUBG just released on Xbox One after completing beta tests on Windows 10 PC. PUBG is still ironing out some some bugs and performance issues on Xbox One. No details as what is in store for PUBG's Event Mode yet, but stay tuned for more details.
