Since the Windows 10 April 2018 Update is now generally available, it’s now time for Windows Insiders to check their Ring settings. Indeed, the first Redstone 5 builds should soon start rolling out to Fast Ring and Slow Ring Insiders, Dona Sarkar said yesterday.

So if you do want to stay on Redstone 4 for the time being, you’re invited to switch to the Release Preview Ring. Because Sarkar wrote “today” in all caps, the first RS5 build could well roll out to Fast Ring Insiders as soon as this week. The last Redstone 5 build (17655) was released for Skip Ahead Insiders on April 25, a little more than a week ago. So far, the main new RS5 feature is Windows Sets, which adds a tabbed interface to all UWP apps as well as some legacy apps such as File Explorer.

If you’re planning to jump on the Redstone 5 bandwagon, we remind you that these first builds have their fair share of bugs. If you don’t want to deal with too many bugs, it’s probably best to choose the Slow Ring, even though this means you may have to wait a little bit more to get these first RS5 bits.
