Plex Sync arrives on Windows Phone, brings your media along

If you aren’t familiar, Plex is perhaps the best and most versatile media server and player available right now. The server works on almost every platform, even on NAS devices, while apps are available for countless devices, including Android, iOS, Google TV, Chromecast and more. Now it has brought new features to its Windows Phone offering.

Plex Sync has arrived, allowing users to take all of their media with them on the go, be it video, music or photos. This requires Plex Pass, which isn’t free – you’ll need to fork over $3.99 per month, $29.99 annually or grab a lifetime plan for $74.99.

Once your server is up and running on an always-on computer then you’ll be able to access all media while connected to your home network. Plex Sync will allow you to physically move the media you want to your phone so that you can take it with you.

“Plex Pass subscribers can now sync videos, music and photos to Windows Phone 8 devices for offline playback. Hopefully, this will improve your next commute, business trip, or vacation”, the service announces.

The Plex server is free, but you will need to pay $4.99 for the app, which is the same price that is charged on all other platforms.
