Cherry Mobile is not a new name, at least in Philippines. The company has a decent market share in its country, thanks to the budget-friendly offerings by the manufacturers. The company also has some Windows Phone handsets in its product portfolio, mostly entry-level smartphones. The company has now announced on its Facebook Page (via WindowsPhoneApps.es) about Alpha Prime handset which will be pre-loaded with Windows 10.
The details about the availability or pricing are scarce at the moment, but the handsets are not coming out anytime soon. They will launch after Microsoft officially reveals the availability date for Windows 10 Mobile. Microsoft Windows 10 for desktops is set to launch on July 29th so we can expect the handsets to hit retail in the months following July.
Cherry Mobile will launch two LTE handsets: Alpha Prime 4 and Alpha Prime 5.
The Alpha Prime 4 will be a low-end offering, boasting a 4-inch display, a Snapdragon 210 processor clocked at 1.1GHz with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 4.0, 5MP camera for photos and videos, 2MP front-facing camera, LTE connectivity and will ship with Windows 10 as its operating system.
The Alpha Prime 5 on the other hand will come with slightly better specifications. The handset will feature a 5-inch display sporting a resolution of 1,280 by 720 pixels, the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, an 8MP rear shooter with a LED flash, 2MP front-facing camera and Windows 10 as its operating system.
It’s good to see small manufacturers jumping on the Windows 10 Mobile bandwagon ahead of its launch. We’ll update you as soon as other details, including the pricing and availability, are revealed by the company.Further reading: Microsoft, Windows Phone
