Xbox boss praises recent PSX event, announces ‘fun’ year ahead for Xbox fans

Phil Spencer

It has certainly been quite a year for console gamers. Following the release of the Xbox One and the Playstation 4 in late 2013, 2014 saw the release of a number of exclusives for both machines. In particular, this year has been significant for Sony, as it is now officially 20 years since the launch of the Playstation brand into the wide world, something that they celebrated at the recent Playstation Experience event (PSX).

Ruminating on the year ahead, head Xbox honcho Phil Spencer commented that though the Playstation event was ‘nice’, Xbox would most likely not be hosting a similar event, instead concentrating on E3 and Gamescom. In addition to this, he focused attention on the fact that, while the Playstation event saw a number of exclusives announced, so too does the Xbox One.

He later went on to state:

Certainly it seems as though his confidence isn’t misplaced. In the coming year, among other titles, the Xbox will see Halo 5: Guardians released, and Rise of the Tomb Raider, the latest entry in the long running series starring the adventurous explorer. This is just the beginning of a long list of exclusives due to grace the console. After a somewhat shaky start to 2014 for the Xbox One, 2015 promises to be a year to remember, at least with regard to games.
