Lenovo announces new ThinkServer systems aimed at small and medium businesses
Lenovo, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of PCs, have today announced the latest additions to their ThinkServer series, the 1U ThinkServer RD350 and the 2U ThinkServer RD450. Aimed at small and medium sized businesses, these machines are priced around the entry level as Lenovo aim to entice the lower end of the market who have significant storage needs.
The RD350 is the lower priced of the pair, supporting up to 16TB of internal storage within quite a small form factor. The RD450 has more storage options, featuring 24 drive bays, offering many opportunities for expansion. Both servers are available with 2.5 and 3.5 inch configurations, allowing flexibility with regards to customization.
Featuring compatibility with the new Intel Xeon E5-2600 v3 series processors, the servers can be equipped with up to 512GB of DDR4 memory through 16 DIMM slots, offering an enormous increase in performance over previous generations. In addition to this, the servers are equipped with integrated RAID, hot-swappable HDD and SSD capabilities and more efficient power supplies.
Bob Galush, Vice President of High Volume Servers and Options, states, “Our next generation RD350 and RD450 ThinkServers address… critical customer concerns by providing a balance of enterprise-class performance, flexibility and leadership-reliability in a low-cost package.”
The RD350 and RD450 will be available from December 2nd and are priced at $1249 for the former and $1499 for the latter. Will you be upgrading to either of these new enterprise solutions in the coming weeks? Let us know in the comments below.Further reading: Lenovo, Microsoft, Thinkserver
