Outlook for Mac gets official Touchbar support, add-in support

A couple of weeks after TouchBar Support in Outlook for Mac rolled out to Office Insiders, the new feature is now generally available on Apple's latest MacBook Pros. The Touch Bar gives Outlook for Mac users easy access to the most common inbox, formatting and view commands, and the Office team highlighted that it's useful when viewing calendards and reminders, too:

When composing a new mail or meeting request, the Touch Bar displays the common formatting options. When viewing your calendar, you can switch between different views. And when viewing the reminders window, you can join an online meeting with one tap on the Touch Bar.

Additionally, Outlook for Mac now supports Outlook add-ins, which are already supported in Outlook for Windows, Outlook on the web and the iOS app. Be aware though that add-ins are only available with Exchange 2013 Service Pack 1 or higher, Office 365 and Outlook.com mailboxes. To get started, users can open the Office Store right from the Outlook ribbon and try the add-ins from Starbucks, Evernote, GIPHY, Microsoft Translator and more.

You can install Outlook add-ins from the Office Store.

"Add-ins bring your favorite apps right inside Outlook, so you can accomplish tasks quickly without needing to switch back and forth between email and other apps," explained the Office team. With this latest additions, Outlook for Mac is giving some serious competition to Apple's built-in Mail app on macOS. If you're a Mac user, let us know in the comments if Outlook is your email client of choice on macOS.
