Microsoft has started rolling out a new update to the Outlook mobile app for Android users this week. The latest update, which brings the app to version 4.2031.2, adds the “Play My Emails” feature. Microsoft Outlook users in the US should now be able to test the new feature by downloading the latest version of the app on their Android devices.
Here’s the official release notes for the Android app update:
Introducing Play My Emails — listen to a natural read out of new email and upcoming events while you walk the dog or get your steps in for the day. You can even reply quickly using your voice. Available for eligible accounts in English in the United States.
The new “Play My Emails” feature reads both emails and upcoming events for Outlook users to make it easier for them to stay up-to-date with everything that’s happening in the inbox. The new user experience supports two playback options, including the Android device speaker as well as a separate Bluetooth audio device.
As a reminder, the feature is already available on iOS and iPadOS devices, while the Android integration exclusively supports English languages. So those using other languages with Outlook won’t be able to configure the new functionality in their apps for now. While Android users will be among the first to be able to take advantage of the new Cortana features in Outlook, Microsoft will gradually expand the capability to other markets as well.
