In a recent interview with Gamespot, Xbox boss Phil Spencer mentioned that Xbox One Backward Compatibility with the Original Xbox is very, very close. Still no solid release date, but the way Spencer was speaking, it seems like we can probably count on it this year. It’s looking like you’ll be able to experience all the classics in the very near future.

“We’re close, we’re really close… I have a little dashboard I go to and I can see all the games [and] where they are in getting approvals in the pipeline. I know the games that are coming for the original Xbox but I don’t think we’ve announced them all. We have to do this in partnership with partners, but we’re still on track. I feel really good. The games look great.”

Classic games like Crimson Skies and Fusion Frenzy will be making a return to relevance with the introduction of OG Backward Compatibility. As Phil Spencer said in the interview, there are plenty of games that will be compatible that haven’t even been announced yet. With these features not being produced at any additional cost to the consumer, many veteran Xbox fans are counting the days until they’re able to experience these old titles again.
