Opera Mini is one of the few third-party browsers available on Windows phones, and the app currently has some interesting features such as an option to save your data plan by compressing the amount of data passed from websites. But while Opera announced in April that it would “hold off on active development” for its Windows Phone app, the developers have just updated Opera Mini to version 220.127.116.11 (via Windows Central) on Windows 10 Mobile and Windows Phone 8.1
Opera didn’t share a detailed changelog, but the updated app now has an ad-blocking feature which may be familiar to Opera users on the desktop. A prompt to enable the built-in ad blocker will be displayed when you’ll launch the updated app, otherwise you’ll be able to find the option into the settings. Please find some screenshots below:
While it’s great to have the choice to use third-party browsers on Windows phones, it’s still not clear if Opera will continue to support Opera Mini going forward. You can get the app from the download link below, but don’t forget that WinBeta depends on ads to provide you great content every day!
