Microsoft has rolled out an update to its Office Web Apps on SkyDrive and Outlook.com, taking the feature out of Preview stage. Office Web Apps on SkyDrive/Outlook was introduced as a feature to allow SkyDrive/Outlook users to easily access and edit Office documents within the browser.
“After working hard on these areas, we launched the Office Web App Preview in July and more than 750,000 of you opted to try out the latest updates. So a huge thank you goes out to all of the participants – the feedback and data that we were able to gather was invaluable to making sure that the latest version of the Web Apps was ready for prime time,” Microsoft stated in an official blog post.
Microsoft has added the ability to co-author in PowerPoint, while Word, Excel, and OneNote Web Apps have had the ability to co-author during the Preview stage. Microsoft has also improved the Web Apps to respond and render 30% faster than before with these new updates. Microsoft has even improved touch support by making Office Web Apps support touch gestures, such as pinching, swiping, holding, and dragging. “Selecting text is easy and intuitive, and a quick tap on the selected area brings up context options to make editing a snap,” Microsoft adds.Microsoft, Outlook, SkyDrive
