Office for iPad reaches nearly 27 million downloads since its launch
It seems Microsoft Office for iPad has received its fair share of success since its launch. During the TechEd 2014 conference, Microsoft’s Julia White mentioned Office for iPad has been downloaded over 27 million times, twice as much as it was almost a month back. Back in April, Microsoft announced that Office for iPad has reached 12 million downloads milestone, which has doubled in the past one month.
This shows the demand for the Microsoft’s Office productivity suite is high on iOS, since its one of the most popular operating systems. The app suite is available for free in the iOS App Store, but the free version only give users the ability to read the documents. To get editing permissions, you must be an Office 365 subscriber, which costs $7.99 per month. There are business plans as well for corporate users who are looking for more features and services.
Microsoft Office is still the preferred software for many corporate business, so expanding it to iOS definitely helped Microsoft, based on the number of downloads. Although Apple keeps a certain share from the subscriptions made through the Office for iPad apps, it’s still a good news for Microsoft as more and more iPad users are opting for the app suite.Further reading: iPad, Microsoft, Office
