Office Insiders on iOS will notice the newer Version 2.6 (17100100) rolling out with its latest preview. The October 2017 feature update is looking to encourage the use of inking with more variety and effects for their users.

For Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, iOS Office Insiders now have a set of personalized pens and highlighters to choose from. This customized preference will then be available across all of your iOS and Windows PCs and Office software. That includes the new digital pencil texture that will also include shading with a supported stylus.

Microsoft is adding in more color for iOS inking as well with metallic pens and inks, adding in eight new effects: Rainbow, Galaxy, Lava, Ocean, Rose Gold, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. However, these are only available with an Office 365 subscription.

Additionally, PowerPoint can now reopen and resume a presentation after closing it as well as Microsoft adding in thumbnail previews into Word’s scroll feature.

As stated, these updates should be going live later this month as part of the monthly Office iOS feature release. Do you look forward to the inking improvements? Let us know in the comments below.
