Office 365 Groups has added a new file experience feature for Outlook users on the web. Previously, Office 365 announced a new way to connect with external team members via email and also added iPad support for the Outlook Groups iOS appToday, Office 365 Groups adds another new enhancement; a new file experience for groups in Outlook on the web.

This new file experience will make it easier to collaborate and connect with people via email on documents in Outlook on the web. Some of the key features of this latest update include:

  • Access all your group documents—A new file view gives you access to all the documents shared with the group, including files shared as email attachments, files stored in the group’s SharePoint document library and files shared from OneDrive or other SharePoint document libraries.
  • Co-author and communicate updates quickly—Now you can edit a document and reply via email side-by-side, so no need to switch contexts to update a document and communicate about the changes with your colleagues.

Here’s look at the new files experience in action.

The new files view allows you to create, view, edit or download Office documents, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. You can also track changes to the file. You can also edit files that were sent as email attachments to a group, send a reply to the group and store a copy of the file in SharePoint.

This new file experience for groups in Outlook on the web is available to Office 365 First Release customers starting this week. If you want to provide feedback on your Outlook on the web file experience, don’t hestitate to submit your ideas via the Office 365 UserVoice. The Office 365 Groups technical community is also a great resource. Check out the user documentation for more information.
