O2 starts rolling out Lumia Denim for Lumia 930, missing Hey Cortana activation feature

After EE, it seems another UK carrier, O2, has started rolling out the Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim for the Lumia 930. However, there's a catch here: it seems the update is missing the "Hey Cortana" feature which can be used to activate Cortana even if the phone is in standby mode. The feature is only available on a selected Lumia handsets.

There was quite an outrage about the missing feature on O2 forums, prompting the company's social media team to respond to it. Chris from O2's social media team said,

"Everybody, I'm sorry I didn't give a heads up that the Denim update for Lumia 635, 930 & 1520 would be going live last night - I received notification that this would be going live yesterday. It was a day off and I was unwell so hadn't seen it until today. I understand many of you are unhappy around an issue with Cortana functionality being missing - please leave this with me and the device team, we'll find out what the issue is and report back."

Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Denim brings a number of new features onboard, more importantly, related to the camera capabilities on the Lumia 930. Windows Phone 8.1 update brings Cortana to the UK, as well as the ability to group apps into folders on the start screen for quick access. As far as the Lumia exclusive features are concerned, Lumia 930 users can now enjoy HDR photos and 4K video recording as well as the improved Lumia Camera app

The update is rolling out as we speak, and should reach all users in the coming days. Make sure you disable the Preview for Developers in order to receive the Denim update. Let usk now in the comments below if you've received the update on your Lumia 930. We'll get back to you as soon as O2 reveals anything about the missing feature.
