Nvidia has released a new Beta driver for its GeForce graphics cards for those of you who are running Windows 8 and the new Windows 8.1 Preview. This driver release is a “recommended driver update” for the Windows 8.1 Preview.

“Increases performance by up to 19% for GeForce 400/500/600/700 series GPUs in several PC games vs. GeForce 320.49 WHQL-certified drivers. Results will vary depending on your GPU and system configuration,” Nvidia stated on the driver download page.

With this new Beta driver for Windows 8.1, Nvidia has addressed a few issues that relate to Surround:

  • With Surround enabled, the NVIDIA Control Panel crashes or becomes unresponsive when attempting to rotate the display.
  • With three displays connected and Surround hot-keys enabled via the Surround Wizard, the Surround hot-keys do not work.
  • After enabling Surround and SLI, the taskbar moves to the left display instead of being confined to the center display.

This new set of Beta drivers also addresses compatibility issues as well as boosts performance in several game titles, including Tomb Raider and Dirt Showdown. Hit the download link below and test out these drivers on your Windows 8.1 system!
