Nokia sells 4.4 million Lumia handsets in fourth quarter of 2012, better than expected results

In an official press release, Nokia has announced its preliminary Q4 2012 financial performance and revealed that the company has sold 4.4 million Nokia Lumia smartphones. In fact, Nokia was very pleased to see that results were better than expected.

“Total smartphone volumes of 15.9 million units composed of 9.3 million Asha full touch smartphones, 4.4 million Lumia smartphones and 2.2 million Symbian smartphones,” Nokia stated in the press release. Nokia even mentions that within the Devices and Services business, the company saw “better than expected” financial performance in the Mobile Phones business unit and Lumia smartphones.

Keep in mind that this is just a preliminary report as Nokia is expected to reveal its final statement soon. Nokia’s Lumia handsets have been wonderful to Microsoft as they offered something new and exciting for the Windows Phone platform, especially with a wide variety of colors.
