Nokia reveals new UK ad for the Lumia 2520 tablet, takes on iPad

When it comes to marketing and advertising, Nokia generally gets things right. You may have witnessed the videos of Windows Phone 8 launch events from around the world. Some were a bit crazy, some over-the-top, but always attention-grabbing. Now the mobile phone maker is in the tablet market, with a brand new Lumia 2520, a device seemingly competing against its parent Microsoft’s Surface 2.

Forging ahead, however, the Finnish company has released a British ad for its new ten-inch tablet. In the video, which last just over one minute, Nokia takes on the granddaddy of tablets, Apple’s iPad. A young gentleman in a cafe is using his beloved iPad, but is frustrated by its lack of a keyboard and is, subsequently, forced to pull out the laptop to get the job done. All the while, a young lady watches on with a bemused look. The result is that she has the Lumia 2520 from Nokia, which comes with a keyboard (at an added cost) that turns it into a laptop-like device.

It is not the best effort from the hardware maker, by which I mean the ad, not the device. In fact, it spends more time showing non-Nokia hardware than it does displaying the new Lumia 2520. But, it does get the point across, even if rather poorly done. We’ll leave it up to you to decide what you think, as you can check out the ad posted below. Let us know your take in the comments.
