Nokia has rolled out a YouTube Upload app for Windows Phone 8, exclusive to Nokia Lumia owners. As of right now, this app works on the new Lumia 1020, but other Lumia devices are supposed to have support.

“This app helps you to share your videos quickly and easily with your friends, and works for all videos shot on Nokia Lumia phones with Windows Phone 8. Simply select the video in the Photos app and share, or upload after capturing and trimming with the Nokia Video Trimmer through share option. Share your video over Wi-Fi or a mobile data connection, but be sure to check your network operator’s data charges first,” the app description reads.

Microsoft rolled out a brand new YouTube app for Windows Phone 8 several months ago, receiving much heat due to the fact that the app had the ability to skip ads and download videos. This was clear a violation of Google/YouTube’s terms of use. Eventually, Google caught wind of this and issued a ‘cease and desist’ letter to the software giant, urging them to remove the YouTube app from the Windows Phone Store. Microsoft responded to that letter stating that the software giant was “more than happy” to comply but Google needed to be more flexible with providing the necessary APIs.

Microsoft then rolled out another update to the YouTube app for Windows Phone 8, complying to most of Google’s requests, but not all of them. It appeared that Microsoft and Google had reached an understanding and are both working together to create a new app, but we have yet to see this app.

You can grab the app from the download link below. Try it out on any Lumia Windows Phone 8 device and let us know in the comments below if you have the app up and running. If it doesn’t work on any device other than the Lumia 1020, Nokia may still be testing the app.
