The avid @evleaks has been a great source of information, especially in the case of Nokia Normandy. The rumors began pouring in last year when the leaker posted some unknown codenames of Nokia devices (including Normandy), and since then, the Normandy has received the most attraction. Why? Because the handset is rumored to come with Android OS on top of it — actually Android with a Nokia-ish touch that looks quite different compared to the one we’re used to see.
Later, we saw some leaked images of the engineering prototype of the handset, along with a press render detailing how the UI on the alleged Nokia Normandy could look like. If you’re still not satisfied and want to know more about how the forked version of Android would look like on a Nokia handset, the notorious one has posted another screenshot, which shows us more details about the UI of the handset.
The latest screenshot shows a detailed version of the home screen of the Android-based Nokia Normandy with several application icons, and at first glance, it looks more like a Windows Phone version of Android. On the other side, it also shows what appears to be a notification center that displays recent app activity, missed calls and other notifications, along with dual-SIM capabilities in the status bar.

The details about the technical specifications are scarce, but it appears to be an entry-level handset. As The Verge notes, citing their own sources, the handset should come with a 4-inch display, a Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB storage with microSD card.
Coming over to the most important part: the launch of the highly rumored Nokia Normandy. While the pace at which the leaks are appearing suggests the release is imminent, we’ve yet to come across any strong proof about its launch. Some rumors mention it will take the center stage at the Mobile World Congress next month, and surprisingly, they do give a reason for it. The reason? In case you can’t recall, the last render which appeared showed a date of Tuesday, 25th of February. If you take a closer look at the homescreen screenshot above, it also shows Tuesday, February 25th. And what’s happening on that date? Mobile World Congress 2014. It’s scheduled to begin on February 24th and will last until February 27th in Barcelona Spain.
On the other hand, Microsoft is expected to close the Nokia acquisition deal in the coming weeks which could complete before MWC kicks off. Until then, take it as you please.
