Nokia’s latest phone, the Nokia Lumia 1520, which was announced at Nokia World in Abdu Dhabi alongside the Nokia Lumia 1320 and 2520, has apparently been sold earlier than expected. A Windows Phone developer managed to buy the phone at an ATT store before its official release day, November 22, for only $540.
A Windows Phone developer who goes by the forum name “MichelleSV,” made a forum post over at WPCentral informing everyone about the new phone. The developer was able to buy the phone for $540 with no-contract at an AT&T store in Greensboro, NC. The lucky owner reports that everything is working “very well” after already testing out the, speakers, LTE and the MMS.
MichelleSV reports, “I just went to the Kiosk [to] ask if they had the phone, I looked at [it] and said I [would] like to buy it. [P]retty simple, must [be the] ATT store [who] don’t know or care much about Windows Phone.”
It’s interesting to see how the phone got early hands on, seeing how it was supposed to be released on the 22nd of November. There was probably a miscommunication between the head office and the retail stores of AT&T because the Nokia Lumia 1520 was originally planned to be released on the 15th of November. If you have an AT&T store near you, go see if you can snag one now!
The Nokia Lumia 1520 features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.2 GHz quad-core CPU, with a 20 MP camera with f/2.2 lens, and 2 GB of RAM, all in a 6″ inch device.Further reading: Nokia, Windows Phone
