Nokia India announces the second season of ‘Your Wish is My App’ reality TV show
Following the success of ‘Nokia Lumia- Your Wish is My App’, a reality TV show about Windows Phone apps, the second season of the show was announced today. The show invites consumers and developers from across the globe to code innovative apps.
The first installment of the show received over 38,000 app ideas, from which 1,200 apps have already made it to the Windows Phone Store and 1,500 are in development by the company. “The idea behind such contests is to involve the masses to send their ideas – which they think, is relevant in our daily lives. Developing an app is easy with our developers and coders, but the main struggle is the idea,” said P Balaji, Managing Director, Nokia India.
This season, Nokia India hopes for the number of entries to go past 50,000. The last date of submission is February 24, following the selection of the 30 apps that will be featured on the 9-episode reality show, set to air on NDTV Prime this March.
The show is hosted by many renowned personalities, including Rajiv Makhni, Managing Editor of NDTV, Vishal Gondal, an entrepreneur and angel investor, and Kalki Koechlin, Bollywood actress and youth icon.
“App culture today is a way of living. Superior smartphones, constant connection to Internet and great content has ensured that apps have woven themselves ever deeper into our daily routines. At Nokia we have constantly worked towards accelerating consumption of apps, whether through introducing innovative smart devices, building a robust ecosystem of developers or lowering cost of accessibility for users,” Balaji stated.
“Your Wish is My App has added a new paradigm to our efforts and delivers Nokia’s strategy to focus on making available applications that deliver true value to consumers. That it caught the nation’s imagination is evident in the 38000 entries we received and of the top 2000 ideas, 1200 are live on the WP Store. We are extremely excited to now launch the second season of Your Wish is my App in association with NDTV,” Balaji added.
Besides being featured on national television, the winner will be awarded ₹10 lakh (about 1600 USD), while the two runners-up will be awarded ₹5 lakh and ₹2 lakh respectively. Three lucky contestants will stand a chance to win the Nokia Lumia 1520.
