Apps may not be Windows Phone’s strong suit, however there are several great high quality unique apps for the platform. Unfortunately, the popular news reader app Weave will be shutting down Saturday March 14th. The developer, Seles Games, announced the retirement of the app on twitter then thanked Microsoft and their users for the support over the past five years. The developer didn’t give any specific reasons for shuttering the app but it was probably a resources sink and the benefits failed to justify the costs.
News reader apps are fairly prevalent on Windows Phone so finding a good replacement shouldn’t be impossible. Microsoft’s own MSN News app offers a good news experience and Nextgen Reader offers a great RSS reader.Further reading: Apps, Microsoft, Windows Phone
