Over the weekend Microsoft started testing a new Departments menu in the Microsoft Store app on Windows 10 for some users. Since the store already offers many different types of downloadable content, this hints that the company might be helping users navigate sections and find stuff more easily (via Windows Central.)

The new Departments menu better showcases the software, devices, deals, and entertainment available in the Windows 10 Store. These are actually the four main categories listed under the menu, with five additional and related subcategories directly under. For instance, under “Software and Apps,” you can find Office, Windows 10 apps, Edge extensions, customize windows, and software support. And, under “Entertainment” you can find PC gaming, Mixed reality, Movies & TV, Books, and Xbox.

We’re not seeing this new Departments category on any of our devices just yet, so Microsoft might just be A/B testing it for now. This isn’t the first time testing has been done, as some users once saw a “Edge Extensions” category in the Store, before it rolled out to a wider audience. Anyway, the change is welcome and should make finding new apps and games even easier. Are you seeing this new Departments menu? Let us know in the comments below.
