Microsoft introduced the MSN News app in Windows 8, later losing a few features when it was adapted for Windows 10, something users weren’t very pleased with. Fortunately, Microsoft knows how important the application is and in order to make nice, its developers will not only bring back many features but also improve on them.

In the latest version 4.11.123.0, available for computers running the latest Windows 10 preview build, the application now has customizable news sources. In addition, you can choose what sources you want to get news from and after adding your personal websites, articles posted on them will be refreshed more often than the default collection provided by Microsoft.

If you’re using MSN News for the first time and you’re launching the application, you’ll be prompted to choose your interests. After, you’ll start receiving news articles about stories that fall into your favorite categories.

At this point, a feature that’s missing is the option to exclude specific sources, but maybe one of the future updates will change that. Competitors to MSN News like Flipboard are continually gaining new readers with each passing day and Microsoft needs to keep up with the latest changes in order to keep users interested.

Next month, Microsoft will release the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and an updated MSN News app will be part of it. Users can hardly wait for the roll out, although the exact release date hasn’t been specified yet.
